Underfull tablecloth by Kristine Bjaadal
April 6, 2010

In most cases, a red wine spill at a dinner party can bring even the most bubbling conversation to a screeching halt. But Norwegian designer Kristine Bjaadal has found a clever way to turn a faux pas into a moment of design beauty. Her Underfull Tablecloth incorporates two layers of fabric, the bottom layer catching spilled liquid in the most lovely way (see it in action here). I love the design approach which brings beauty to a usually ugly problem, and does so in a way that increases our engagement with every day objects. While Kristine’s tablecloth is just a prototype for now, you can contact her at kristine@kristinebjaadal.no and she will let you know when it is more widely available. Via Inhabitots.
