Lise Lefebvre's bearless bear rug
November 6, 2008

I love Dutch design (which you may have picked up on by now) for its dry humor, cheeky takes on consumer culture, and sociopolitical undercurrents. No exception is Lise Lefebvre’s "Blanket Statement" project, which repurposes used blankets and comforters as rug material, and tops it off with a synthetic bear head. The rug combines the nostalgia of a kitsch-ish design and the green sensibilities of a critical environmentalist.
