EcoDomo Recycled Leather Floor Tiles

July 1, 2008

If you’re prone to leather guilt, here’s one solution that will please your eco conscience. EcoDomo recycled leather floor tiles come from scrap batches from tanneries, furniture, even shoe manufacturers, giving gorgeous and usable leather a new life underneath your feet. The color lines are extensive for a reclaimed/recycled product, and you can look at virtual samplers right through their website.

A proud member of the United States Green Building Council, EcoDomo uses a "triple bottom line" approach to business - its products must exceed market demands, contribute to the environment and the communities where the products are produced.

I'd stay away from putting this in a small bathroom that contains a tub/shower. It would be fine in a bathroom with just a toilet / sink, but EcoDomo (and almost every leather tile) is going absorb some water. I've actually spilled water on the EcoDomo tile and watched it run right off of it like water runs off of glass, but I'd still be extremely hesitant to install in a bathroom with a shower. The humidity could do serious damage. Also, EcoDomo in their warranty states that it is not warranted against water damage. As far as where to buy, the best place online is www.SouthCypress.com . Very professional company that I use for all my tile needs, not to mention lowest prices. Haven't purchased EcoDomo from them yet, but they have done well with all my other tile needs.

Hi Elizabeth. It would be best to contact the manufacturer directly to see what kind of water wear the product can withstand. Good luck!
