Etsy: Local, green, and engaging

February 5, 2009

Chances are you’ve heard of Etsy: the online marketplace where individual artisans and designers can sell their handmade wares. I did most of my Christmas 2007 shopping via Etsy, and recently rediscovered it as a great place to shop locally. Their Shop Local feature allows you to search based on your city. I entered San Francisco and came up with hundreds of local designers and great housewares for my new apartment, including ZebestPhoto’s images of miniature scenes (below), and doubleparlor’s whimsical prints (above). What better way to support local designers and find some unique treasures?
