Vintage Belt Floor Mat

November 18, 2008

Available from my favorite green ware retailer Branch, this circular floor mat is made from reclaimed leather belts "rescued on their way from waist to waste." The long strips are a more supple take on traditional wood flooring. Handmade to order by UK-designer Inghua Ting, the mats are available from Branch for $688.

This is fantastic. Recycling items is always the right thing to do, and I am constantly amazed at the quality of the art that's out there. It's truly inspiring! I would use this in a NY minute in any one of a number of scenarios...I hope to have the opportunity. www.whatwouldyoudowiththisroom.com

It's really refreshing to see something so stylish and useful developed from discarded items. As per the previous post, this would really look great on a Green floor, either Reclaimed Pine or a dark stained strand-woven bamboo floor.
