Earth Day is a comin’

April 16, 2010

Earth Day is 40! How will you celebrate? Here are some suggestions.

Earth 911
features a special section with 40 tips for reducing, reusing and recycling – everything from pizza boxes to yoga mats.

Swap a green idea with Kelly Ripa and Electrolux will donate $1 to Global Green USA, and you’ll be entered for a chance to win an eco-friendly Kelly Green washer and dryer.

Ditch the car and get yourself a Sanyo Synergetic Hybrid Bicycle, the eneloop, that features "loopcharging," which charges the battery while riding, combining the power of rechargeable batteries and human pedaling power to help riders propel themselves with ease, even in difficult uphill terrains.

Enter the 2010 Zeftron nylon Sustainable Practices Award, which will recognize facility, architecture and design professionals who employ and utilize unique sustainable practices in three key areas: at work, at home and in their communities. Entry forms may be submitted online. Entries will be accepted from April 22, 2010 to July 30, 2010 and the winner will be announced in September. They will receive recognition for their accomplishments and a grand prize donation in their name to an environmentally focused charity.

Post-it brand, celebrating its 30th Anniversary this year (hey – haven’t they been around forever?), is launching its latest – and greenest – addition to the Post-it family of products – the Post-it Greener Note. Created with a progressive plant-based adhesive and 100 percent recycled paper (30 percent postconsumer material), the Post-it Greener Note makes it easy to minimize your environmental impact while leaving stickies everywhere.

Make a personal commitment to sustainability and join the more than one billion people in 190 countries that are taking action for Earth Day. Together we can make a whole wide world of difference.
