Valentine Smiles

February 13, 2009

A couple of photos have come my way that I’d like to share with you, my faithful readers. (Okay, you don’t comment as much as I’d like—I’m dropping a big hint here—but you deserve a Valentine’s Day treat.)

These little guys are attending a global warming protest.

Has anyone ever climbed a tree without hugging it? These whimsical figures, made from twigs, branches, sticks, vines and other natural materials, are literally tree huggers. Created as part of the TreeHugger Project by artists Agnieszka Gradzik and Wiktor Szostalo, they demonstrate that environmental art can be fun and influence how we view the world.

Don’t forget to smile.

Those two photographs have indeed made me smile, bringing some welcome humor and hope into the often serious story of sustainability. I feel fortunate that an interior designer friend shared this link with me!
