The First Maya Romanoff Showroom

I've known about the extraordinarily exquisite wall coverings of Maya Romanoff since 1991, the year I started working for Holly Hunt Ltd in Chicago. Freshly out of my master's program in architecture, I was not too fond of the decorative aspect of design. In fact, it did not exist in my world of architecture. Yes, I was a part of that extraordinary architectural society. Soon after entering the world of interiors, beginning at the studio of Mr. Waldo Fernandez in Hollywood, I began to learn new things about interiors, which I give huge credit in teaching me a thing or two about human scale and proportions.

Mr. Maya Romanoff, who is amongst the great decorative artists, has had a studio since 1969, and since then has transformed arts and crafts into a part of our contemporary environments. The Maya Romanoff studio has consistently contributed brilliant wall covering materials throughout the years, and finally has opened its first flagship showroom at the Merchandise Mart in Chicago.
Design Collaboratives, Inc. Tom Marquardt and Mary Beth Rampolla transformed the historically dim and challenging 3200-square-foot space into a dazzling inspirational showroom. Predictably, visitors walk into a grey and restful Mart; contrarily, the entrance wildly grabs attention and ushers one into a curiously surprising corner space on the sixth floor.

Walking through the showroom, I felt like a grown-up when I realized that my career grew alongside the Maya Romanoff collection, which along the way has snagged a few great awards for their innovative products and artesian mindfulness.
Congratulations to friends at the Maya Romanoff for their dedicated craftsmanship and for their proudly beautiful showroom. I look forward to other locations opening in the near future!

I thought the showroom was a jewel. It felt warm and dazzling at the same time. It spoke volumes of Maya and the beautiful textiles, he and the team has been designing for so many years.
