Brr, It's Cold! Brighten Up!
December 13, 2010

If you're in close proximity to my loft in the morning you will probably hear me repeating: "hats, scarves, and gloves please, girls!" a couple of times over as I try and herd my girls off to school. Yep, winter is here and it's going to be a while before the temperature starts heating up again.
In my office, we are working on a really fun triplex apartment and are tripping out the colors for a living room. "Too saturated and dark," my client said to me. "Can we do something brighter?" I start to muddy things up a bit when it's chilly outside. I am currently fascinated by teals and deep dark muddy blues and how they work together. Shock it with an accent in fluorescent yellow and you've got a moody dark winter ocean with a life buoy floating on it. It's all good. I like bright design and it's what I do a lot of but I have to admit that I am affected by the climate and I can look back to the projects that I designed in the fall and winter and the ones I designed in the summer and spring. But nevertheless, I am leaving stormy and broody behind and going back to happy.

Yes indeed, I continue my fascination with blue. Here is a room I wanted to share because it's fun, bold, and very blue. To date, we have the molding installed and painted blue. Next, the wallpaper, furniture, and window treatment.
