One Stop Yellow Shopping at Muuto

November 29, 2010

Yellow is one of my favorite colors. I say "one" to make sure you understand that I have many favorites.

The company Muuto has a delicious selection of tabletop items that would make any banana jealous. Here are some of my favorites.

Yellow

The strangely stacked bowls and cups that make this oddly shaped vessel by Michael Geertsen.

Yellow

The Ole Jensen vitamin bowl, for keeping your fruits and vegetables together yet apart.

Yellow Muuto

And lastly, a beautiful family of hooks by Tveit & Tornoe, and if I owned them, I would not hang anything on them because they are beautiful just the way they are on the wall.

I have to admit I love wonderful yellows--anything from bold canaries to delicious pale egg yolks...
These provocative objects illustrated here invite further comment:
The Geertsen vessel is reminiscent of something the late Carmen Miranda might have worn on her sumptuous locks, had she been want of tropical fruit--its cavalcading form forcing her body into unspeakable undulations.
I am intrigued too by the Ole Jensen bowl... imagine if turned on it's side with the largest sphere toward the bottom, one might recall the image of a fecund (albeit jaundiced) Mycenean fertility goddess bulbous with life.
The Hook family is simple, albeit mundane. They currently reside in Levittown in a recently remodeled ranch. They drive a Taurus and enjoy macaroni and cheese as a snack.
Need one say more?
