The Ghost of Brokeback Mountain

I drive up weekends to check the progress (?) of Brokeback Manor. I generally get really excited at whatever is new at the Manor and begin to dream about actually living there. It is on the drive back to New York that I begin to think about how much time has past since I began and how much more it will be before finished. By the time I reach the Henry Hudson Bridge I am fuming, cursing Mitch, the house, Hudson, life in the country, etc.--road rage and contractor rage are a deadly combination.

Someone told me that it took 2 years to build the Taj Mahal, my guess is that he wasn't the G.C. on that job. Even with slaves I don't think Mitch could finish this job by the end of the year. I brought up a contractor I use here in the city who told me there isn't enough work for him to bring his men up. He did however, comment on the excellent quality of the work. That did make me feel somewhat better.

I met my neighbors today, a couple across the street and the couple next door, they both knew of me because of this blog. It's reassuring to know that if my career fails as a designer there could be one in the blogging field. I know my blogging hasn't been that consistent lately, but with construction going at this glacial pace, it's hard to keep writing about it. I did take pictures of my new semi-installed kitchen cabinets and semi-installed bath tub but there is a misty film on all the images. Either I need a new I-phone or the house is haunted...the ghost of Brokeback Mountain. Perhaps G.C. Mitch has been reading these blogs and has put a curse on the Manor.
