Building Block
If one is writing about building a house and having trouble coming up something to write is it called a writing block or a building block? You know I'm having trouble when I resort to using puns. Needless to say the progress, and there has been some, is not at a speed that one would call inspirational. I am, however, sticking to my November 1st deadline as the beginning of the decorating phase of Project Brokeback Manor. Mitch assures me, and what better assurance could you have, that I will be able to move into the guest wing (I love saying "the guest wing," it sounds so Baronial). The radiant heat is working, the roof doesn't leak, and the windows are caulked--no handles to open them but caulked. As of today the bathroom, still isn't working but I am "not to worry." By not to worry Mitch probably means there is a port-o-john just outside.
Even if I can't sleep there it would be great just to have some objects in a room other than saw horses and ladders. The small guest bedroom or the "lesser V.I.P. room" as it is known has carpeting, two twin beds, two sconces, and ceiling fan ready to be delivered.
I have a tentative date with a landscape excavator this weekend to start moving the earth around and am so looking forward to it. I'm sure he won't be letting me drive the machinery but just to be able to direct one of those earth movers must give one a real sense of power. I'm sure the idea of sculpting a mountainside must be a lot more satisfying than creating a floral arrangement on a dining room table--real man's work. I wonder where I could buy a hard hat. Anyone know whatever became of the Village people?
