2010 Hampton Designer Showhouse
From guest bloggers Jayne and Joan Michaels of 2Michaels Design...
Last Saturday we had the pleasure of attending the gala preview of the 2010 Hamptons Designer Showhouse to benefit South Hampton Hospital, 129 Stony Hill Road Sag Harbor. Approximately 25 designers were chosen to create rooms in a house built by Frank Bodenchak of Edge Real Estate. This year there was an emphasis on soft coral and lilac colors, flat weave woven rugs, Scandinavian accents and more traditional furnishings.

We were drawn to Lisa Sternfeld's loft above the garage, which was inspired by the craft and process of how things are made. She chose deconstructed forms, burlap curtains and an un-upholstered sofa by Jonas upholstery.
Kevin Isbell's warm and delicate master sitting room made us want to spend hours reading in the gently curved sun faded orange sofa. Photo by Peter Margonelli.

Whimsical elements were seen in Irwin Weiner's bedroom with his handmade chandelier, vintage art pieces, and wainscott drapery panels.

We felt right at home in the airy and fresh guest suite by Brady Design that provided crisp detailing and pops of color in the orange sofa and bright blue photograph above the bed by Eric Striffler.

We wanted to shoot a game of pool in Bradley Stephen's game room. Inspiration was derived from the the two vintage Swedish rugs from Hakimian with such distinctive colors as navy, aubergine, lilac and gold. The antique pool table came from Blatt Billards. Photo by Nick Johnson.

The grand finale was Nathan Egan's Pop Art wine room in collaboration with Paris Ceramics. We felt as though we stepped right into a Verner Panton collage. It was a daring move that paid off nicely as people packed into the space to experience its party vibe.

I love how fresh the Hickory Chair pieces look in this biafteuul room! I am sure that Suzanne Kasler would love her bed she designed for Hickory Chair, how Alexa Hampton would love her Father, Mark Hampton's desk he designed for Hickory Chair, our James River collection wing chair and fretwork arm chair in the lucious match panel finish! You have a real gift with color and pattern!

Hi Tobi,I am an interior deisgn student and was a volenteer at the deisgn house this week. I covered the 3 bedrooms to the right one of the landing area. I loved your room! The use of color was beautiful. Everyone was commenting on how they would never have thought to put the green and coral together but loved the feeling it gave to the room. It is even prettier in person. the pictures just don't do justice to all the textures. My favorite thing was the lamps really stunning. Great job!

far from tawdry. There are about four great rooms I've seen at the house. The black/white room is the best. that photo doesn't do it justice. the other views are even better.

juju - you should see the house in person, the pictures don't do it justice.
