Summer Re-Runs

July 28, 2010

Paul Siskin House

Let's just pretend this blog is in summer reruns. You know how if you tune in your favorite TV show in the summer, it's one you've seen before. Well that's how these pictures are. They are new photographs but you've seen it before. This all due to everyone's favorite general contractor, Mitch. Mitch had assured me, he had never been in a better position to work on the house, he has three men lined up and ready to go. The house should just move along one, two, three, no problem to finish by the September 1 deadline. Well two weeks have gone by and there has yet to be more that two men on the job. And better yet, there has yet to be full week's work.

Last Friday, Joan and I paid a visit to the site and there was Mitch, alone and feeling bad that he has disappointed me. Frankly I didn't care about his feelings, it was his being alone that got to me. It was all I could do to contain the rage and frustration. I knew my first season wasn't going to be summer, but now I am wondering if it will be fall. It's really too far along to change contractors now, I'm ready for all the "I told you to fire him along time ago" from all my friends.

There was one positive moment in the visit. Although there was not a crew working, there was an a/c man installing the units. It's so comforting to know that if any of Mitch's men do show up, they will be able to work in a nice comfortable environment. Oh, thank God for that!
