Beehive

Good news from Contractor Mitch, he is planning on having a crew of three for the next few weeks. Four men working on my house--a veritable beehive of activity it should be. For sure this will necessitate a visit by architect Joan and me; decisions will have to be made and made fast. With the lightning speed at which we should now progress I hardly have time to think of what party favors there shall be at the birthday/open house/Labor Day fete I will be having just a few short weeks away. It's all too exciting.
But before I get too excited, I will wait and see how many men actually show up this week. It's not that I doubt Mitch's intentions, but you know what they say about the pavement on the road to hell, or in this case, the road to Brokeback Mountain. Remember we have had several completion dates, or were-to-be completion dates. The last date I recall was Thanksgiving 2009; that turkey would still be basting in the oven had I believed him. This cynicism is not without a basis. Trying to keep that faith baby!
It's now Wednesday and no word from Mitch, no returned phone calls. Is he up there and not hearing his cell phone due to the cacophony of hammering and sawing? No calls from neighbors complaining of the noise, could they all be away?
Spoke too soon, received a call from Mitch who is at the site with his crew of two men not three--so much for the beehive I was imagining. His cousin won't be able to show up for a while so the urgency of the tile work is off. What a shock.
