Back to Hard Hats, Studs, and Dust
Just as we have finished up one project, we are in the midst of construction on the next. This project is a triplex in the City Hall area of downtown New York. The architect is David Hotson, and I am excited to be working with him. On our end of the project, we have up to now been consulting on the finishes and coordinating the interiors with the architect and clients. The residence should be done in about a year and it's time for us to really start finalizing the ideas for the interiors.
I'm just plain lucky since I have had the pleasure of working with these clients on two previous projects. I think dream clients is how they are referred to in the biz. They are smart, design savvy, fun, and enjoy the design process. They challenge me as a designer, which keeps me on my toes. I once suggested random tufting on an ottoman and my client immediately questioned, "Random, why not make it relevant?" he said, and came back to me a couple of days later suggesting we have the tufting mimic the formation of the Southern Cross that glows in the night sky over their native New Zealand. So from finishing up final touches in the TriBeCa townhouse last month we are back to hard hats, studs, and dust on this next exciting venture. To help you get in the mood: here are some pictures I snapped of the project this week.
