Home Sweet Home Office

Five years ago, my husband and I bought a house in Bucks County, Pennsylvania; a sad little farm house that was in need of a lot of TLC. We did a full renovation and that sad little house is now an incredibly happy home that we use on weekends. It's only an hour and 45-minute commute and we are all used to the weekly schedule of getting there Friday night and leaving Sunday evening.

A designer's house is never finished...at least this designer's house is never finished, and it just evolves and evolves and evolves. My friends ask, "when are you going to get it published?" and my answer is always, "when it's finished!" But I'm not sure it ever will be. Is there such a thing as a house being finished? Does it just stay that way until the furniture is worn out and needs replacing? I always see an opportunity for improvement and change.

My husband sometimes catches me staring at a room, deep in thought and he knows it's time for him to worry since there are some decorating changes about to be implemented.

A couple of weeks ago, I met Cerentha Harris who writes Worklife, the Herman Miller blog. She asked me if I could share images of my desk with her for her blog. Not willing to make my weekday workspace photogenic, I decided to shoot some pictures of my little home office I use in the country; it's much happier and less cluttered than my real life office. Plus, it took all of two seconds to style.

So here I am publishing my home in Pennsylvania. Maybe I'll think about shooting another room soonish, too.
