JSPR

Everyone is exhausted after ICFF—the show, the parties, the cocktails, the chatting…and all this crammed into half a week. I know, I know, it’s nothing compared to Milan, but since I don’t get to go to Milan this is the closest design excitement that I get and it’s in New York, my backyard!
There were some highlights for me at the show this year and this quirky piece immediately comes to mind. I came very close to buying it myself, but since I am in the market for some more essential and more practical pieces for our loft, sadly I had to pass.
The piece is called Tree Trunk and its from JSPR. Dutch designer Jasper van Grootel is probably best known for his rubberized chairs that he delighted the design world with about six years ago. This piece is available in many colors and actually made from a real tree trunk which is hollowed out. This means that each piece is unique (and super heavy). It’s coated with rubberized paint which gives it a really fabulous matte finish.
So here is my strategy since I can’t have it, I am going to show this piece to all my clients in the hope that one of them will be smitten. I’m pretty sure this is going to work and this way I can live vicariously through my clients.
