Blog-phobia

“It’s time to start getting tough with contractor Mitch and not to let this keep dragging on,” architect Joan told me. Then she went on to explain how I had to give him deadlines. The only problem is she, much like myself, is a bit of a coward. Well let’s just say “non-confrontational.” We can deliver ultimatums easily between ourselves. You should have heard how tough I was when I was explaining to her what I was going to say. Yes, it would have had Mitch quaking in his work boots had he only heard them. Needless to say, what he did hear wasn’t quite so threatening. One could have probably described my ultimatums more like pleading.

The newest progress report as reported by Mitch (it’s been a while since my last visit) is that the replacement windows have been delivered and that all windows and doors will now be permanently installed and sealed this week. He also implied that the hardware has arrived and will be in place. I am assuming that all the copper flashing and the finishing of the stucco has been completed since he’s been working on that for the last two weeks. According to him, he has doubled the size of his crew (1 x 2 = 2) and has people (more like a person) working both inside and outside. I only hope there was enough parking on the street for all their cars.

I realize that all this lack of progress might make for a slightly less than interesting blog, so I plan to present another perspective of this on-going saga by introducing Joan Chan as next week’s guest blogger. I feel she might be a little blog-phobic so I might have to do some encouraging. Depending on this week’s report, I may go up this Sunday and take pictures of all this progress. It’s not that I have doubts about all this, but I don’t think I’ll be taking my squeegee along with me.
