Public Bikes

Rob Forbes is a very smart man. He started Design Within Reach many years ago and after some time he sold it. He has since moved onto his next venture: bicycles. He has a new start up company called Public Bikes and has put together a collection of super-hip bikes to make biking more popular around cities in the U.S. Influenced by Dutch and Danish biking lifestyles, he is trying to get as many people as possible onto his Public saddles.

Being Dutch myself, having pedals under my feet feels very natural even on the crazy city streets of New York. Tomorrow I am going to be riding my brand new Public Bike from the Jacob Javits Convention Centre for ICFF to the Tretorn store in SoHo. So look out for me on my crazy cool, new orange bike with matching orange luggage rack (my "lugguage" is usually my daughters whom I ride to and from school on the back).
