Jonathan Adler's The Parker

“A dream is your creative vision for your life in the future. You must break out of your current comfort zone and become comfortable with the unfamiliar and the unknown.” -Denis Waltley
Many of us recognize that Jonathan Adler has created his own distinguished décor style in his successful young career. He has created comfortable, unique Americana chic, reminding me of the 1960’s—a great sense of optimism and humor. Much of the details and color palettes make me think of the flea markets in both Pasadena, California and in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan.

My sincere congratulations to Adler’s achievements! Ever since he started his retail business, it has taken off like Wonder Bread. Very often, I see his retail touches when I visit friends’ homes. Even some value-focused retailers were directly influenced with Adler’s details and design directions. Now, I am anticipating his new design additions and future direction. No rumor spreading here, I am just hoping. For his wit and positive design attitudes reflected in his work, I am a huge fan.

The Parker Hotel in Palm Springs is one of his earlier works where I can appreciate Adler’s style. His décor models and portrays the California desert lifestyle most appropriately. My slides are personally edited snap shots of Adler’s work, which best communicate—I feel—the mood of the Parker Hotel, where I stayed and felt quite comfortable.

Please enjoy my photos, and then visit the hotel to experience in reality, instead of two dimensions, this amazing accomplishment by one of America’s most talented designers.
