The Arsenal

Venice has been an important city, not only for its artistic values but also for its important role in political history as a gateway to Asia. With its well-known navy complex, Venice easily accomplished the task of being an important port. The now-abandoned military base is beautiful and gloriously romantic for its artistic concepts, stretched out on the far east portion of the city.

The site has been in solitude for some time before La Biennale decided to utilize it for a part of its exhibitions. I love the balancing relationship in between military and art. The Arsenal provides a serious mood where senses of art humor can readily play amongst the visitors of La Biennale. The location almost feels a bit like New York’s Governors Island and recent PLOT event.

 
The Arsenal serves as one of the two major areas of Biennale; the other being Giardino. Both are like siblings, who can’t live without each another. I have a secret favorite, but regardless, I simply enjoy the exhibits and look forward to coming back each time to visit both siblings. La Biennale is a uniquely mature global art event and one of my favorites. There is nothing else like it: global art lovers enjoying the unique exhibitions despite the summer aroma of Venice.
