Turin Porticos

I love Italy, and have visited more times than any other country. One might assume I have explored all of the major Italian cities. They would be incorrect, as I had skipped Turin for other more frequented stopovers. I don’t have any particular reason for why I had never visited. As Turin is less than two hours away by train ride from Milan, I decided on my last trip to spend the day there in between meetings.

Turin is ranked third for its economic strength after Rome and Milan in Italy. It was once the capital of Italy, and hosted many international fairs, including the Olympics. It was also chosen by UNESCO as the World Book Capital for the year 2006. Turin is home to one of Italy’s important national newspapers: La Stampa, Tuttosport, La Repubblica, il Giornale, Leggo, City and Metro. Moreover, RAI (Radio Televisione Italiana) has housed a production centre in Turin since 1954. Turin is famous for many things, such as its super strength in industrial forwardness, sports, books, chocolates, and its legendary history. The city is highly culture and piled with intelligent gems in between every column of porticos.

Rain or shine, I was determined to visit Turin during my last trip to Italy. As usual, I dressed appropriately: layered in my signature fitted style, partnered with location-appropriate fashion. As soon as I settled into my seat in the train car, I saw raindrops pattering the train windowpanes. Rushed out to the platform in Turin, I regretted not bringing the tall and large hotel umbrella with me. After crossing traffic, I found myself blessed to find shelter. Turin returned her gratitude for my visit with beautiful strands of porticos. I spent most of my visit protected under these beautiful porticos of Turin, making my walk pleasant and comfortable. At times, the rain slept, and allowed me to walk out from under my refuge to view the architecture in a different perspective.
