No Bad News, Let's Celebrate

October 21, 2009

I went to see the house last week to photograph all that was new and different. As you can see by the lack of pictures, there wasn’t a lot new and different. There were a few doors hung but that was about it. All the tile and stone were sitting in the front yard as I left them two weeks ago and the plumbing was still residing in the basement. My very expensive septic system—the pride of the neighborhood—still stood unfinished; very disappointing trip. I think I have to forget about Thanksgiving at Brokeback Manor, even a Brokeback Christmas doesn’t seem a reality. Woe is me!

Photographer cousin Lynn Davis came by while I was there. She has been following the   progress (?) of Brokeback Manor and has been documenting it with photographs. This limited to one edition book will be available for viewing as soon as I have a place to put my coffee table. As you all know, the plan for new furnishings has been put on hold, it is re-using what I have, so very old money don’t you think? Some of the pieces have been in the family for years and go back at least half a generation.

Yesterday I received a “good news” call from Mitch.

  1. He struck oil?
  2. He won the lottery and will finish the house for free?
  3. He didn’t win the lottery and will work twice as hard to finish the house to get the remaining bank money?
  4. As the 500th customer of the Acme Septic System Company, I will not be receiving a bill?

None of the above, the well is done and has come in on budget, no extra charges. How odd when no bad news becomes good news and a reason to celebrate.

Toots ,I was very pleased to see that you noticed that the tile was on the floor and that you still do not have glass in the windows, quite a Breeze. Still, you love your contractor, I,m with Linn on this one. Some day it will be amazing. Love you ,thanks for the day We had fun.

The house looks great. Sorry about the mega-septic! I agree with you that the scale of the White Castle light is better but I like the look of the other one much better. Can hardly wait to see the final choice and new pictures.
