Milestones

There are two events in my lifetime captured on film that I could say have had a profound effect on me. One is the first man on the moon, and the second the delivery of the glass panes to Brokeback Manor. Yes, it has finally happened. I am now the proud owner of 142 panes of glass. This photo documents the occasion and will likely go down in history. A few minutes of silence please to commemorate the event…
I would like to say that the house will be closed in this year, but, unfortunately, that won’t happen. How nice it would have been had this delivery happened in a gentler climate, but the crated pieces arrived before the blizzard and are currently resting quietly under a blanket of snow. Contractor Mitch promises me that he will begin the installation this week in spite of the cold and high winds. Perhaps it was the frustration in my voice that has caused this sudden “mail carrier” dedication.
I am anxious to see some results when I go up this weekend. Probably no need to bring my squeegee quite yet, but I will hopefully see at least a window, door, or skylight installed. Of course, I can also see the steel frames in all their glorious color. I do hope it’s a color I remember, it’s been so long. Currently, there are about 10 to 15 samples throughout the house and I know one was selected, but I’m not 100 percent sure which it was. Hope Mitch’s memory is better than mine, or, if not, at least that he has a good color sense.
