Postette

Here it is Tuesday and I haven’t thought of anything to blog about–blogger’s block I guess they call it.  I posted last week the latest pictures of the house and the view in full autumn bloom, and I’m going up this week to see the not-completely-finished skylights.  Mitch has also promised some samplings of doors and windows for our approval.  Everyone has warned me about the steel and glass doors: cold, leaks, condensation, etc., but they are probably the thing I am most excited about.  I am doing a job at the Rockefeller Apartments on west 54 Street, and the lobby has windows and doors similar to what I am having.  Every time I go to the job site, I love seeing them, and I look beyond the excessive rust damage and the fact that the doors don’t really close very well. By the time my house is that old, I hardly see myself caring.

The presidential campaigns are going along.  Obama is shining more and more, and McCain slips a little more each day.  The economy—worse and worse and gone global.  I don’t have a clue what is going to happen at the end, or if there even is an end.  Does the economy just stay like it is and we adjust our lifestyles?  What do we look for to know that we are officially in a recession? Does it matter all that much if it is officially a recession?  It all seems so abstract until you hear about friends losing jobs or closing their small companies.  I wonder what the employment opportunities are up in Hudson.

I’m going to end this now, and just call this weeks post a postette.  I will be going to the house on Thursday with architect Joan, and hopefully we’ll come back with all sorts of news and photos of the progress.
