Happy Thanksgiving
The last update for completion from contractor Mitch was Thanksgiving. He said, “It won’t be 100 percent done, but you will be able to have Thanksgiving dinner in your house.” Unless I plan on roasting the turkey on an outdoor spit, I will continue my annual tradition at Kitty Hawks’s home. As lovely as the afternoon will be, I am still a little disappointed.
Speaking of disappointment, the glass has not yet arrived for my house. Shocking as it might seem, the delivery that was supposed to be this week is not this week—probably the holiday—perhaps even next week. the good news is that when it does arrive, Mitch will be almost ready for the installation. Almost is not perfect, but it’s better than nothing. The primer is almost done, which means the painted coats have not yet begun. “No time at all for the painting”, says Mitch. The primer color is beginning to look better and better but the bottom line is it still needs to be painted. It’s amazing how many compromises one is willing to make at this stage of the job. If the window issue goes on much longer, I will probably learn to enjoy the clean fresh air, get invigorated by the cold, and learn to maneuver around the house in my new Christmas Snuggie. Imagine how much I’d save on Windex and window cleaning services! Every cloud has its silver lining.
