A V.I.P. Weekend

I want to thank the hundreds and hundreds of people who responded to the important question of whether to couple the sconces over the fireplace or to keep them apart. It’s an issue right up there with Afghanistan withdrawal. You can see from the photo, the final decision is to couple them together over the wood storage compartment. There have been so many decisions along the way, color of the stucco, color of the windows, etc., and only through the generous advice from my international readership have I been able to continue. Karen Fisher, not to worry there will be many more decisions to come.

According to contractor Mitch, next week I am supposed to start seeing glass in the windows and doors. Now I
certainly don’t have any reason to be doubtful, but what do you think? What might look like paint on some of the metal frames is only primer which means that he still has to finish sandblasting, priming, and painting all the rest. “A simple job,” said Mitch, “won’t take any time at all.” Painting in sub-freezing weather is also no problem, he told me he has painted a house at the beach in the middle of January. I wonder if the house happened to be in the Bahamas? Just a little glass, that’s all I ask for.
I was hoping for more photographs, but there only so many you can take without much change. Here is a sampling of the subtle changes that have taken place. I should do one of those picture puzzles where you look for the difference between before and after. The winner could have a weekend in the V.I.P. room at Brokeback Manor (assuming that he or she cooks). Good luck to all.
