As Promised

“How long can I keep disappointing my devoted blog fans with unfulfilled promises of photos of my house?” I ask myself this everyday. So here they are; the promised documentation, the reason for this blog. I know you are all enjoying my current events observations and comments on the state of the economy and such, but I do have an obligation to fulfill.

I was in Hudson with architect Joan and we spent a good deal of time going over everything that was wrong so far. Sheetrock really makes the mistakes so much more glaring; a misplaced fascia here, a non-aligned wall there, an insufficiently dropped ceiling above, etc. Yes, there is quite a long list for contractor Mitch to deal with and for me to pay for. I would like to blame him for most of it, but I can’t. Joan on the other hand, is my good friend so I can stick it to her. I, of course, assume no responsibility as I am just an innocent client. And to Laura Bohn, I admit shrinking the portal between the entry and main room was a good idea. Thank you.

Now the photos are not great. The site looks like Christo came by, had an emergency phone call, and had to leave. It’s going to be a while before the plastic is replaced by steel and glass. I keep hearing that the doors and windows are all done, but something keeps them from arriving to the site. The final delivery of all windows and doors was supposed to happen last week, but wouldn’t you know it, “the truck’s transmission broke down.” Truck repaired, we should soon be hearing the sound of meshing gears grinding up Brokeback Mountain. Maybe sometime next month we will see the house closed up, I’m keeping the faith and the bottle of Windex…
