Marc Newson

When I was in college, I shocked everyone by painting my entire dorm room turquoise with dark turquoise trim. On my freshly painted turquoise wall, I hung a picture of Marc Newson; he was my hero designer.
Last June, our friend Marcus Tremonto (my next post will be about his new work so keep an eye out) invited my husband Jaime and I to a design sale at Phillips De Pury. It was a really phenomenal show and there were two pieces designed by Marc Newson that really stuck in my head because they were gorgeous! I think I could do some really good work sitting at a desk like that with its companion console right behind me. These were two pieces Marc designed for Syn Studio’s in Japan 1996. The desk was sold for $313,000 and it looks like the console is still available. Anyone?

I came across these pieces on a site called Detnk.
