Goodman Charlton

Last Thursday I attended an event presented by Interior Design and The New York Design Center called Check-In to 200 Lex. New York Design Center’s showrooms opened their doors from 4 to 8 p.m. to designers, architects, and the hospitality industry to showcase the NYDC design resources. During this event there were various designers and architects speaking in different showrooms on various topics. I was impressed by the presentation that Steven Charlton of Goodman Charlton gave at the McGuire showroom.

He discussed their hospitality projects and spoke about the renovation of the Empire Hotel, among others, and also previewed their new hotel, The Clark. I was not only taken by their talent as designers and their innate ability to combine textures and color to create incredibly sophisticated, modern interiors, but also by the fact that they are such a small operation, yet are able to work on relatively large projects that require a lot of custom work, detailing and attention. The company consists of the partners Jeffrey Goodman and Steven Charlton, and an office manager; when they need drafting done, they call in the required people to work on the projects. It was very inspiring to hear him speak. I have picked some of my favorite rooms, mostly from the Marcel Hotel. The bedroom with the yellow headboard is perfection in my book.
