A Joyful Goodbye

November 19, 2008

A couple of years ago, my husband Jaime and I were shopping at a crazy cool vintage, industrial warehouse somewhere on the outskirts of Philadelphia.  Don’t ask me where it was, because I don’t remember.
But I found these two vintage microscopes, and was in awe of their beautiful design.  They reminded me of swans with their heads bowed down.  I was on the fence as to whether or not to buy them since they were a bit pricey, but I bought them anyway thinking that I would turn them into lamps one day or pass them on to a client. The guy that sold them to me was as on the fence about selling them since he had grown very attached to them.

I am currently working on a house upstate that used to be on old lighting lab and microscopes seem very appropriate for the interior.  My clients and I see eye-to-eye when it comes to quirky objects, and I am having a lot of fun working on their house.  So, these lovely microscopes will be leaving the GVID collection and going to their new home in upstate New York.  I know they have found a happy home!

Hey James My studio is small, but I am lucky enough to have a house in PA where I can store my treasures.
