My Favorite Sconces

September 6, 2009

For some reason, unbeknownst even to myself, I have a problem with sconces. I think it may partly be because of the word itself that just puts me off. It’s just not a nice word and there are way too many hideous sconces floating around out there. I do, however, need to source wall-mounted light fixtures from time to time, and they certainly can be great if you find the right one. I usually end up searching for vintage pieces to get what I want, but there are some new beauties out there too.

So out of a dirty world of sconces, here are some of my shining stars.

Vintage Raak sconces both from Rewire from a bathroom I designed

Jielde wall fixtures that come in an amazing array of colors. I am just about to order two green ones for a child’s bedroom.

The josephine sconce by Jaime Hayon is so beautiful. I ordered this one for a lobby for either side of the elevator.
