High-Back Sofas: Vitra, Niedermaier, and George Smith

December 26, 2008

We are working on a formal living room for my client Paige, and we will be placing two identical high-back sofas along the long wall of the living room. It is going to serve as additional seating since we already have two identical curved sofas in the middle of the living room. I think it is going to look really stunning. My client and I saw some at Niedermaier at the D&D building in New York and really loved them, but I came across two other options:
One is traditional from George Smith and the other is more contemporary from the super talented Bouroullec Brothers.

Mmmmmm…decisions, decisions.

This is the contemporary Alcove Highback sofa from Vitra–sooooooooo gorgeous–and my favorite I think.

This one is the Niedermaier sofa; ours would be longer. The lines on the sofa are really elegant and would work so beautifully in the room.

This is the George Smith Tiplady sofa; maybe too big for the space.

Hey Jayne - yes, that sofa is just "my thing" Its always interesting to incorporate all kinds of styles in a room though, so just for that reason we may end up going with something more traditional. See you soon Jayne kisses ghislaine
