Donna Wilson

June 15, 2009

Donna Wilson is a British textile designer who set up her studio after graduating in 2003 from Royal College of Art. She makes me smile. I love the friendly little creatures she creates with oddly proportioned and sometimes lop-sided body parts. The oddities possessed by her characters can also be found in her furniture, which seems to have the same quirky attitude.

I like her brilliant sense of color. She is great with patterns and sprinkles everything she does with a lovely cartoonish quality. The faux bois fabric on the stool with the turquoise button tufting is one of my favorites.

I think I would like to meet this lady. If her personality is anything like her design, I imagine her to be a totally nutty, fun girl. On the other hand, maybe she’s a bit shy and introverted and has created an entire world of characters in her mind, letting them come to life in her craft. If anyone knows her, let me know!
