Keet in Huis

We spent the last two weeks in Holland and Switzerland and I am happy to report that I have some really fun things to share. One day last week, Jaime, my sweet husband, and I met up with my cousin Justina and her partner Jack (who live in Amsterdam) while we left the girls behind in Alkmaar with Oma and Opa (my parents, that is). We jumped on our bikes and made our way to some "out of the way" places, meaning we left our favorite area in the Jordaan and headed to the outskirts and the harbor. The next couple of blog entries will be about some of the places we ventured. One of our first stops was KNSM island to check out in particular a store I have never been to called Pol’s Potten. On our way we popped into a fantastic kid’s store that really inspired me and I was delighted to be able to see some new and creative home products for children. The store is called Keet in Huis, which means "goofing around in the house." The designs were all quintessentially Dutch, which seemed to have an old fashioned or vintage feel to them. I liked so many!

Hokey and fun vintage dutch doll worked into a piece of artwork; my cousin Justina

How great do all these colors look on a black wall? Note to self, the next baby room I do, consider black walls; vintage stool painted and reupholstered

What is it about these garden animals that gives me butterflies in my stomach; super cute wallstickers

Super cute bedding; stickers by Inke Heiland on the back wall behind the register

Thanks for that, Fruit. If anybody is still isrtteneed, now that the warring in Iraq has ended(?), please spend a moment w/ Bob @ www/superbeans.com/rant.htm . See (in numbers) the body count. Multiply each one of those numbered souls lost to their families, times whatever horror they first inflicted on those people they were sent to serve (kill). And ask yourself, other than the war industries, who profited from the terror we brought to a sovereign, unarmed nation.Where is our honor as a nation? This was done not in my name, and, I'm sure, not in yours.Yes. We call it service But when you talk about destruction, don't you know that you can count me out. John LennonHe was served also.
