My Little Creator Creatures

Early last Sunday morning, my girls, Mia Soleil, 9, and Saskia Luna, 7, woke up early and collected items from around our country house and created what they called a "nature celebration." I asked them what they were doing exactly and why they had created this gorgeous installation in our house. This was their explanation and a beautiful one at that.
"This is a celebration about nature and how animals live in the forest and we are the nature fairies that live in the woods. We are celebrating nature and how we live and we want to let animals know that we are here for them. This is a whole day celebration and today we will not cut down any stems or trees or pick flowers or hurt any animals." We were about to eat sunday breakfast and I asked the girls, "Does that mean you are going to pass on the bacon?" A debate ensued.
I thought they did a great job on the colors, textures, and those tacky, plastic deer add just the right amount of quirk to their project. Topped with a homemade, paper flower, it’s perfection, little ladies.
Coincidentally, the girls’ installation comes at a time when we are also working on an installation in my office. Interior Design’s own Cindy Allen invited my design studio as well as five others to be a part of "Idea Lab" hosted by Interface FLOR’s Aware House in La Grange. We were all asked to design an installation using the raw materials that Interface uses to make their carpet tiles. We are, as this is being posted, in La Grange, with our Interface hosts installing our creations.
Hopefully we are mixing hard work with lots of fun socializing. I will keep you posted…
