Doshi Levien

There are a couple of things I am obsessed with at the moment: styrofoam, using colored tape to transform furniture, and installation design.
Designing an installation became a reality for me when Cindy Allen asked us to design an installation for InterfaceFLOR which we helped to install in their Awarehouse outside Atlanta last month. It was an amazingly fun experience and am so grateful for the opportunity. Look for it in the November issue of Interior Design.

This experience really opened my eyes to the opportunity that installation design offers, and I was delighted to come across this installation last week that Doshi Levien designed for Moroso. I actually saw it in the Moroso showroom in SoHo awhile ago. There is something about the mood they create with the graphic quality of their work that really appeals to me. I started reading up on them and found the story of their design success so intriguing. I love how Nipa Doshi brings her Indian heritage to their work while Levien strength lies in his industrial design background. They are a married couple who met while studying design and have done some really amazing installations. "Together, their work celebrates the cultural hybrid and explores the synthesis between technology, story telling, industrial design, and craftsmanship." To find out more about them you can read some of the press on their website.
