Gold Mine

June 7, 2009

I love gold–gold jewelry that is, but when it comes to interiors, I tend to shy away from warm metal tones like brass and copper. However, something really clicked for me when I saw Kohler’s new line of brushed gold faucets at ICFF.  Not only were the faucets gorgeous in form, but the finish was what made me stop and pay attention.

This all led me to the realization that I have seen some other things lately that have me reconsidering my usually obvious choice of chrome or brushed steel for anything commanding some kind of metal finish. Pamela Sunday’s sculptures that I saw earlier this year at the Architectural Digest show were stunning in their gold and bronzy matte hues, and Lindsey Adelman’s branching glass bubbles with the gold colored connections have me loving that 24-karat look.
