Amy Helfand

August 8, 2008

I met Amy Helfand about five years ago when I was doing my rounds at Bklyn Designs. I was drawn to her work, like a bee to honey. I like her not only because she is wonderfully talented, but simply because she is a lovely person.

So while carefully reading my Interior Design magazine, and cherishing all the inspiration it brings me, I felt a smile come over my face when I got to page 186 of the July issue, where Amy’s beautiful rugs were featured in a Flooring Talent article called "Blazing A New Trail".

I have always been more drawn to her art and digital collage than her rugs for some reason, and I am not sure why. I think perhaps it is because I don’t use much pattern in my interiors, and when I do, it is usually found in art, pillows, or accessories. I have included an image of a guest room that I did for a client and was thrilled when hanging two of Amy’s pieces on the wall above. They work so perfectly in the room. She has a truly amazing eye for color.
