Best of Year 2008

This December, Interior Design celebrated the annual Best of Year Awards at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York. It was such a spectacular evening, and I was reminded again of why that museum is my most favorite building! Editor Cindy Allen was as gorgeous and jovial as ever, while publisher Mark Strauss was ever so charming. Fresh from a stunning evening the night before at the Waldorf-Astoria hotel for the annual Hall of Fame induction dinner–which I was lucky enough to attend–the design community got to celebrate the best products and projects of 2008 with Interior Design.
I spent an evening with so many designer friends in that majestic building, and, as if that was not enough, my firm Ghislaine Viñas Interior Design was overjoyed and honored to be nominated in the urban residential design category for a loft we designed earlier this year. I am still rubbing my eyes and pinching myself to make sure this is all real.
Nine years ago, I met Cindy at the site of my very first residential project and here we are being recognized. My little trip as a designer has been incredible and more than I ever imagined it would be. I am truly, truly blessed–I feel like I am about to go into a acceptance speech with tears and a long list of thank you’s, but I won’t. However, I do sincerely want to thank my wonderful clients for trusting me with their homes and giving me the opportunity to be creative. Also, I want to thank Cindy for seeing something in me–tears in my eyes now for sure!
