Rachel Denny Domestic Trophies

We are working on the interior of a fantastic property in upstate New York at the moment. One of the things that really excites and pleases me about my crazy field of work is that its so varied. With the right client, we can challenge the boundries of design and do it while smiling from ear to ear. One day I can be looking for Nobel prize-winning scientists and inventors for a collage, and the next day we can be searching for faux deer heads. I know I am doing the right thing when I do it with a big smile on my face. This project has certainly kept me happy (Thanks Craig and Kirsten). We are working on a deer trophy wall–not real deer, of course, since that would not be as much fun, and sad for those deer. We have been scouting around for fun deer heads for a tongue-in-cheek  installation. That’s exactly how we found Rachel Denny. She says that she has "always been a collector of societal debris–lost mittens, glass fragments, and other touches of the human hand in unexpected places. The displacement of these objects and the idea of the separation of useful objects and those that are rendered useless when they are out of context is also a contradiction that I am curious about." All I can say is I almost "lost my mittens" when I looked over her Web site. So, it goes without saying that we will be sporting a lovely orange, knitted deer head on our wall. I am delighted.
