Freshaire Paint at Home Depot
August 26, 2008

In my recent quest for magenta paint, I of course turned to the usual low- and no-VOC options: Yolo, etc. But I was happy to find that my neighborhood Home Depot has begun to carry another great option: Freshaire. The no-odor, Greenguard-certified VOC-free paint has a great texture, and comes in wonderful colors (some no-VOC lines have fairly limited color palettes).
VOCs (volatile organic compounds) are bad for you in a very real way—they're carcinogenic, can lead to respiratory trouble, and they linger for days, weeks, sometimes months. So if you love that newly-painted smell, think again next time and turn to an accessible, affordable, healthier paint like Freshaire.
