Third Party Certification: Furniture Manufacturers Get It
When a manufacture tells you a product is green, don’t take its word for it. Ask instead about which of the third-party certifications the product has earned. Remember, third-party means that a recognized independent organization is substantiating claims. Independent is the operative word here.
I was mightily impressed at NeoCon to find that five manufacturers - Allsteel, Gunlocke, HON, Kimball Office, and National Office Furniture — have earned certification under the new multi-attribute Scientific Certification Systems Sustainable Choice label for a variety of products.
Knoll’s Life chair has achieved a Sustainable Gold rating under the SMaRT© Consensus Sustainable Product Standard.
With more than a dozen C2C certified products, Steelcase has more cradle to cradle certified products than any other manufacturer.
Wonderful. Just wonderful!

Hey Don - That's fantastic - congratulations. This post was about furniture manufacturers but the wallcoverings industry is making great green strides - worthy of a post of its own. Stay tuned! Penny
