Decorating Crisis

June 3, 2009

Dr. Paul Siskin, M.D.

We had a crisis, a client decorating crisis here at Siskin Valls, Inc. It all started last week after the delivery of various items for an out-of-state client. When she arrived, she was set-a-back when she discovered that there were items missing. But wait everyone, it only gets worse! They were not only missing from the delivery, they were never even ordered. Yes, that’s right, not ordered. The orders just seemed to have slipped right between the cushions.

Thank God my workrooms understood the gravity of the situation and came through. Within two days, the toss pillows were complete and on their way. This is a high pressure vocation. I should have gone into something less stressful like brain surgery!

Pressure off, I can go on about my house blog. Contractor Mitch called me from his newly repaired truck to tell me that the balance of my doors and windows are on the truck and rolling.

Ship Ahoy!

Frames, skylights, mullions, casements, doors, all blackened with rust, riding the highway toward the final destination, Brokeback Manor. After a stressful week, it was pleasing to hear such good news. Perhaps the next house photo you see will be one with windows and doors, not covered with plastic, but have actual metal frames. Once metal frames are in place, can glass be far behind?

And speaking of stress, I am leaving Thursday for a much needed vacation. Please don’t believe the rumors of rehab that are spreading throughout the D&D Building. This is simply a back-to-nature, get-in-touch, outward-boundish experience on my client’s yacht in the Mediterranean. A Zen experience is always so much better when assisted by a crew. One needs to step back once in a while to get a perspective of real life. As I don my blue blazer, white pants and captain’s hat, I bid you all a ship ahoy.

Maybe you can start your own reality show and you can name it "Decorating Crisis!" Or you can become part of the ER cast! I can see it now; Paul Siskin, decorator-turned-celebrity!!!!

Those photoshopped pictures are hilarious! I almost thought they were real until I took a closer look! If you're ever in need of Design Interns or entry-level hires visit my website: www.idinterns.com. Postings are free; our goal is to get young designers experience!
