Trend Report: 5 Furnishings With Great Legs

Tina Turner has them. The French call them jambons sexy. These days it’s easier than you think to get your hands on great gamsand specify them for your latest project. These five furnishings have droolworthy legs and, just like the lusciously long appendages strutting the catwalk, are surefire attention-grabbers.

1. Lap series by Blu Dot: Why not a pop of citrus for your storage solution? Look no further than the Lap series of white-washed maple cabinets from Blu Dot. Three leg finish options including white lacquer, neutral maple, or showstopping orange lacquer. Pick your length: ranging from the 21.7-inch Lap Nightstand to the 86.1 inch Lap Long and Low credenza. Drawers have smooth and silent self-closing hardware, interior shelves are adjustable, and rear openings allow discrete cable access.

2. Pion tables and stool by Sancal: Get a leg-up on the competition with Pion, a series of maple and lacquered MDF tables and a stool recalling chess pieces. Designed by Ionna Vautrin, the collection includes a side table in two mod variations, a leather-upholstered stool, and a newly launched dining table with a slender oval maple top. All have colorful bases, available in four colors: mustard, olive, peach, and sky blue. Unexpected touch: Tables are fitted with coasters.

3. Ola 25 kitchen worktop by Snaidero: The Ola 25 Limited Edition kitchen worktop by Pininfarina Design mixes cooking activity with the sleek lines of a Ferrari concept car. A contemporary update of the 1990 Ola by Paolo Pininfarina, the lacquered Ola 25 is available in 84 unique variations and comes with a glass worktop supported by a sultry carbon-fiber U-shaped base in metalized lacquered finishes including cherry red, as well as champagne, white, and black.

Says Pininfarina, “The kitchen is like a car, it is the most complex car of the home because it has to perform, it has to be functional and it has to be ergonomic, kind of like the interiors of a car. And just like a car, the exterior design has to have personality, emotional and be unique.”

4. Drum and Quad3 by AMMA Studio: Some people toss coffee grounds in the trash. Some people make them into furnitureand by some people, we mean Samuel Amoia and Fernando Mastrangelo, the duo behind New York-based AMMA Studio.

Innovative use of material is the idea behind their sculpture-cum-furnishings, which include stools and occasional tables made from raw cement, hand-dyed and poured in layers, then mixed with the likes of silver, brass, and copper bbs, pink himalayan salt, black silica, sand, and coffee grounds. The result: subtle beauty radiating from truly one-of-a-kind pieces, with sustainable reuse of materials to boot.

5. Showtime by BD Barcelona: Business on top, party on the bottom: That’s Showtime by Jaime Hayon, first launched in 2006. Nine years later and Spanish manufacturer BD Barcelona has released this modular multi-legged MDF cabinet in three new finisheswalnut, walnut nature, and lemon yellow-lacquer. Inside, a removable stainless steel rack with a copper finish has room for 10 wine bottlesensuring the party continues.
