Chicken Dance: Art at the Hard Rock Hotel Ibiza

You can’t miss the doorman at Estado Puro, a tapas restaurant at the Hard Rock Hotel Ibiza in Sant Jordi, Spain. He’s an 8-foot-tall red chicken, a resin version of a character that teaches common Spanish expressions to visitors on the hotel Web site. EstudiHac carried the motif throughout the 7,500-square-foot space. Affixed to a wall next to the sculpture, black disks proclaim phrases such as echarle huevos, which means be courageous. Poultry-themed vinyl tiles front the bar, which encircles a palm tree constructed from plastic combs. Synthetic caprices aside, EstudiHac included travertine on the floor and oak on the columns—materials in a “pure state” like the restaurant’s name and cuisine.
