    Great Chicago Fire Hydrants

With the conflagrations in Texas and Arizona, this year has seen some of the most deaths among firefighters. The Windy City, historically familiar with the devastation wrought by fire, honors their heroism with Great Chicago Fire Hydrants. Appearing city-wide, fiberglass replicas at a giant 5 feet tall have been painted by local artists—this one by Carrie Ahaus was sponsored by Blue Man Group Chicago. Each will be auctioned December 1 to benefit fire-related charities.
