The winning design from OMA includes columns placed on the skins of the buildings to allow for maximum views.
A group of Pritzker-prize winning architects gathered to participate in Four (4) New Visions , an exhibition organized during Design Miami by Terrence Riley, former chief curator at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Terra Group and The Related Group invited Riley to help organize a competition for a mid–rise residential building on a five-acre property they purchased jointly in the tropical city of Coconut Grove. Riley then went on to curate the exhibition to showcase models and the original drawings of the proposals. From a list of 30 firms, four were selected to generate plans for the development: Atelier Christian de Portzamparc , Diller Scofidio + Renfro , Ateliers Jean Nouvel , and OMA . Ultimately, OMA’s plan led by Shohei Shigematsu was chosen for realization, and includes 6 narrow towers with one or two units per floor. New York-based Interior Design Hall of Fame member William Sofield has been selected for the project's interiors.
