Invisibly suspended, graphic artist Archie McLeish’s pristinely cut and printed plywood components created a deconstructed narrative within Selfridges ' window frame. The artist’s goal was to “adapt a two-dimensional style to work in an interesting way within a three-dimensional space.” Moving around the window or simply passing it allowed viewers to discover different information seen from various angles and distances. “The piece managed to explore and incorporate many of the sentiments of motivation and discovery that inspire me,” says McLeish. We were motivated to discover how to achieve such a perfect installation. “I would strongly suggest taking extra care, minding your fingers, when cutting with a scalpel,” he warns. “Particularly when you intend to be knotting hundreds of threads of fishing wire the next day.”
